Went for the MINDCHAMPS presentation workshop last Sunday.
I must say I am very impressed by the methodology that they are imparting to the children, to use the concepts to remember words and numbers. 30 different words... A boy in P6 was asked to go up to the stage to recite the 30 words at the start. He managed 15 which was quite good. After the short training by the trainers, he could recite word for word and even backwards. Not only him, but all the children that are invited for the programme... They could even tell you 2 words before and after the word. Even the preschoolers did their version of it. WOW!
The presenter was very good at bringing us to an understanding that the hardest to remember are numbers, not words or pictures, as there was no way to co-relate numbers, yet the 2 graduates from MINDCHAMPS programme were able to tell you the number in a particular gird box after studying for 15 mins in a 48 box gird. The boy can even do it diagonally, backwards etc...
They must be imparting a technique to them, that is not pure memorisation...
Their technique is good... and I believe Trevor will benefit from it next time when he goes through this programme...
So now the question is with me... Do I want to be an independent education advisor for MINDCHAMPS? The product is good, very good in fact...
